Welsh Championships
History
Until 2005, the Welsh Novice Championships was a two-day competition made up of dressage, showjumping, roads and tracks, steeplechase, and a 23-fence cross-country phase. The competition was restricted to Grade 3 horses that have either been placed in the first 6 at any Novice One or Two Day Horse Trials in Wales in the previous year.

2008
The Welsh Championship will be run as a One Day Event at Intermediate Novice level at Chepstow <see programme> as per British Eventing Rule Book.

The competition will now culminate with the XC run in Reverse Order of Merit
Special prizes and prize money will be awarded, see omnibus

Confined to horses that from and including Chepstow 2006 to Chepstow 2007 have:

  • either been placed in the first 6 at any Novice, Open Novice or Intermediate Novice One or Two Day Event in Wales
  • or if owned or ridden by a resident in Wales, have been placed in the first 6 at any Novice, Open Novice or Intermediate Novice One or Two Day Event or CIC* elsewhere.

In addition, if owned or ridden by a resident in Wales, have been placed 1st to 10th in any CCI*.

Horses and riders must also meet the requirements of Rule 27g with the exception that horses that upgrade to Grade 1 after qualifying will be eligible.

Please see Rule Book & Omnibus for full information about qualification details, special prizes and money. These changed in 2005.
