Chepstow International Three Day Event

Horseboxes cross the Severn for less
Severn Rivers Crossing plc, the company which controls the Severn Bridge has announced what is very welcome news for many horsebox owners.
From the 17th March 2008, any horsebox with permanent living accommodation will be allowed to cross the bridge for the same charge as a Category 1 Vehicle, incurring a toll of just £5.30 as opposed to the £15.90 previously levied.
In these times of increased transport costs, this news will be particularly welcomed by those BE Members travelling via the Severn crossing to the forthcoming Chepstow International Horse Trials (May 15th – 18th ) as well as to Monmouth (20th Sept) and Mount Ballan (18th & 19th Oct) horse trials later in the year.
Remember – there is no toll charged to return from the Welsh side to the English side of the bridge.

Chepstow International Three Day Event

Chepstow welcomes Future Stars
This year Chepstow will host the Charles Owen British Pony Championships.
This is an International event run over three days with trot ups, ground jury and all the pressure and excitement of an international event.
The competitors are 15 years and under and ride ponies under 14.2hh. It's a two star level competition and will be the final trial for the pony teams.

Chepstow International Three Day Event

Chepstow will be holding Pre- Novice Three day Event
Chepstow has held the PN 3 day for 2 years, it was abandonned in the 1st year due to weather but a select band of enthusiastic amateurs enjoyed a good competition last year. This was sponsored by South Wales Windscreens and Terry presented the prizes in the new main arena.
This year the class will still run as the old long format three day event, to include Dressage, Roads and Tracks, steeplechase, Cross country and Show Jumping. This was a new initiative by British Eventing to provide Grass roots Competitors with a taste of "the big time". Although as an Olympic Discipline Eventing has now changed in format, amateur riders still have an ambition to ride in an "original style"; three day event, that will include all the Speed and Endurance Phases that riders have enjoyed at the top level since the sport of Horse Trials began in Great Britain in 1949. This first event was staged by the Duke of Beaufort at Badminton after the British team made such a mess at the 1948 London Olympics!
